- I was born a Greek Cypriot, the island of Cyprus being my birthplace, Same place as Aphrodite,the goddess of love. I traveled to England in the 70's where i recieved my nurses' trainning.I arrived in the US in 1975 and have been here since.I have practiced nursing as an RN in hospitals, dialysis clinics, home health and nursing home.I became part of the teaching team at FCTC in 2004.I started by teaching IV therapy, then PCT, then LPN and now MA. I love teaching Medical Assisting students.The profession is diverse, interesting and yes underpaid.My favorites are phlebotomy, EKG, physical exams to name a few. There is nothing more rewarding to me than to see a student successfully complete the course and walk across the FCTC stage on graduation night.I always say "love what you do every day, don't just get a job for the money" if you can help it...
