Spotlight on our students

Linda Hunt and Tonya Holladay are mother and daughter, currently in the medical assisting program here at FCTC.Linda and Tonya were born and raised in Indiana.Linda moved here in 1994 a nd Tonya later followed in 2006.
When not in school, Tonya enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, and four-wheeler riding.Linda enjoys time with her husband, her 4 dachhounds, and going hunting.(Loves the bow and arrow).
The Medical Assisting program has been challenging and very rewarding! The instructors are amazing!(i did not make Tonya say this,no extra credit).
It has been a very rewarding experience as mother and daughter to be able to attend college together. It is an accomplishment that we will forever cherish.
We both  look forward to graduating together, and starting our Medical Assisting careers.
Thank you FCTC.

  1. Lets talk about Medical Assisting here at FCTC. First lets start off with the instructors. We start with Mrs. Robinson. Mrs. Robinson is one of the hardest people to understand in the beginning because of her British accent. But just like moss and magic, she starts growing on you and Magically one day you start to understand what she is saying and talking about. And the singing (oh the singing) of terms you will never forget even if you tried. To all the males that are going to take the class(BEWARE!) you will get picked on no matter what. This is not in a bad way this is in a good way and funny way. Next lets talk about Mrs. Edwards, all i have to say is ( You get 2 snaps in a Z formation). Mrs Edwards makes learning fun and participation in her class is a must so if you think that you are going to hide (I don't think so!) she will find you and you will participate. Mrs. Edwards expects alot from her students, but there is nothing that she will not explain to you if you don't understand. So if you have any questions ( ask them she will answer and not bite your head off). Next we have Mrs. Boyer. Mrs. Boyer is very informative and helps her students understand through the use of computer and power points. But Mrs. Boyer teaches one of the hardest parts of the class which is front office and typing (ASK questions early and often and know your due dates!). Alot of students even myself have issues with these parts of the class. Mr. Boyer helps you as much as she can but to all the students( Start your typing Early, No really i am Serious that is the only way you are going to finish it all). Lets now talk about Health Core . Yes! Health Core just the mere mention of that word should make your blood go cold. But, in my opinion if you don't take it (LIVE) where you actually see a teacher in person you will be truly lost when you have to start class after healfh core. The stuff that you learn in class and terms and cramming for tests and terminology will help you later on.(FOR REAL!). In all, this is to all the people who want to take the MA program and to all the future classes. (This class is no JOKE!) (This class is for REAL!). The class and the journey that you are taking is for life and will help you in this field and any other medical fields that you would be going into. The class is HARD!!! and if you think it is going to be a breeze think AGAIN!. But if you are willing to sacrifice (and believe me you will sacrifice in some way) one year of your life and work hard and take it day by day. You will graduate, you will understand,( Not only Mrs. Robinson but what she teaches and what the class teaches) and you will find a job that you will like and that is rewarding that only morally but also financially.
